When is the ICC Surf to City?

Sunday 12 March

What is it?

A fun, family run/walk or cycle event. 

You can bike, walk or run 12km, 6km or 3km - it's all about having fun!

Where is it?

The event is in Invercargill. 

The ICC 12km event starts at Oreti Beach, the ILT Foundation 6km starts at Otatara and the Farmlands Fuel-Challenge 3km starts on Bond Street.

All events finish at Queens Park.

How can I enter?

What time does it start?

The ICC 12km starts at 9.30am

The ILT Foundation 6km starts at 10.15am

The Challenge/Farmlands 3km starts at 10.30am

The AMI Kids in the City starts at 12.30pm

How much is it?

$10 per adult, $5 per child (U16), and $20 for a family (two adults and up to three children).

Please note that a late fee of $5 per entry applies to anyone entering on the day of the event and EFTPOS will not be available on the day.

Where can I collect my race number from?

When entering online there is an option to have your number posted to you.

Alternatively, you will be able to collect your number from Sport Southland (Invercargill and Gore) from 1st March. 

How do I get to the start line?

Buses will be available to transport you to the 12km and 6km start lines ($2 per person) and depart from Queens Park's Feldwick Gates and United Video South City.

Please note you cannot take prams or bikes on the buses. 

You can also drive to the start lines, however please be aware of road closures (details will be found on this page closer to the time)

What is the AMI Kids in the City and how can my kids get involved?

This is a free fun 2.5km run/walk for kids aged under 12-years-old. 

It takes place at the finish line of the ICC Surf to City, and entries will be taken on the day. 

I'll have extra gear with me at the start line, what can I do with it?

Gear bags will be available and Sport Southland staff will transport these to the finish line for you. Please make sure you clearly mark the bags with your name, phone number and race number. 

Bags will be available from the registration tents at the respective start lines and can then be given to Sport Southland staff.

Can I bring my dog?

No, the event is not open to dogs other than service dogs. 

Do I get an official race time?

No, this is not a timed event. It's about taking part and having fun!

There will be a clock at the finish line, so if you take note of what time you start you should be able to work out your time.

The cost is $10 per adult (18+) and $5 per child (5 – 17), under 5 free. Family pass $20 (2 adults and up to 3 children).

Can I enter on the day?

Yes, on the day entries will be taken at the start line – Oreti Beach – and will incur a $5 late fee for adults and family entries. EFTPOS will not be available on the day.

Where does it start and finish?

The 12km starts at Oreti Beach and finishes in Queens Park.

What time does it start?

The event starts at 9:30am but you must be at Oreti Beach by 9:15am

Can I run, walk or bike?

You can run, walk or bike this event.

How do I get to the start?

BUSES
Bus transport leaves United Video South City at 8:20am and Queen’s Park Feldwick Gates between 8:00am and 8:50am. The cost is $2 per person (cash only) and no bikes or push bikes are permitted on these buses.

DRIVING
If you choose to drive to Oreti Beach, the road will be closed from Oreti Park to all vehicles at 8:45am and to runners, walkers and cyclists at 9:15am.
Vehicle access to Stead Street will be closed at the corner of Stead and Bond Streets at 9:00am.

PARKING/DROP OFFS AT ORETI BEACH
Parking for the event is at Oreti Park – drive down to the far end and drop off or park.

Can I take my dog?

No dogs allowed (except service dogs).

Will I get an official time?

No, this is not a timed event. It's about taking part and having fun!

There will be a clock at the finish line, so if you take note of what time you start you should be able to work out your time. 

Will there be drink stations on course?

There will be three drink stations throughout the course; you will find them at Otatara School and on Stead Street and Bond Street. There will also be water available at the finish line area.

Will there be toilets on course?

You will find two toilet stops along the course at Otatara School and at the roundabout of Stead Street and Bond Street. There will also be toilets available at the finish line area.

What can I do with the extra gear I have at the start line?

A gear van will take any excess clothing to the finish line at Queens Park. Please ensure your bag is clearly labelled with your name, phone number and race number.

Can I enter on the day?

Yes, on the day entries will be taken at the start line – the corner of Marama Avenue South and Stead Street – and will incur a $5 late fee for adults and family entries. EFTPOS will not be available on the day.

Where does it start and finish?

The 6km starts at the corner of Marama Avenue South and Stead Street and finishes at Queens Park.

What time does it start?

The event starts at 10:15am but you must be at start line by 10:00am

Can I run, walk or bike?

You can run, walk or bike this event.

How do I get to the start?

BUSES
Bus transport leaves United Video South City at 9:15am and Queen’s Park Feldwick Gates between 9:00am and 9:25am. The cost is $2 per person (cash only) and no bikes or push bikes are permitted on these buses.

DRIVING
Vehicle access to Stead Street will be closed at the corner of Stead and Bond Streets at 9:00am.

PARKING/DROP OFFS
You may park and/or be dropped off at Curren Road, however please allow plenty of time.

Can I take my dog?

No dogs allowed (except service dogs).

Yes, on the day entries will be taken at the start line – Bond Street between Bond Row and Bute Street (next to Marshall Industries) – and will incur a $5 late fee for adults and family entries. EFTPOS will not be available on the day.

Where does it start and finish?

The 3km starts at Bond Street between Bond Row and Bute Street (next to Marshall Industries) and finishes at Queens Park.

What time does it start?

The event starts at 10:30am but you must be at start line by 10:15am

Can I run, walk or bike?

You can run, walk or bike this event.

How do I get to the start?

BUSES
Bus transport leaves United Video South City at 9:35am and Queen’s Park Feldwick Gates between 9:30am and 9:45am. The cost is $2 per person (cash only) and no bikes or push bikes are permitted on these buses.

DRIVING
Vehicle access to Bond Street (North bound) will be closed at 9:00am.

PARKING/DROP OFFS
You may park and/or be dropped off at Mersey Street (both sides), however please allow plenty of time.
You can access the starting area off Mersey Street, via Bond Row North/South

Can I take my dog?

No dogs allowed (except service dogs).

Will I get an official time?

No, this is not a timed event. It's about taking part and having fun!

There will be a clock at the finish line, so if you take note of what time you start you should be able to work out your time. 

Will there be drink stations on course?

There will be one drink station the course and you will find it on Bond Street. There will also be water available at the finish line area.

Will there be toilets on course?

There will be no toilets available on the course but there will also be toilets available at the finish line area.

What is it?

It is a 2km fun run/walk.

Who can enter?

It is for children under 14 years of age.

How can I enter?

You must enter on the day, registrations will be taken from 11:00am at the ICC Surf to City finish line area at Queens Park.

What is the cost?

The cost is FREE.

Where does it start and finish?

The 2km starts and finishes in Queens Park in the ICC Surf to City finish line area.

What time does it start?

The event starts at 12:30pm but entrants must be at AMI tent at the ICC Surf to City finish line at 12 noon.

Can I run, walk or bike?

You can run or walk this event only.

Can I take my dog?

No dogs allowed (except service dogs).

Will I get an official time?

There are no official times for the AMI Kids in the City - it's all about having fun!

Will there be drink stations on course?

There will be water available at the finish line area.

Will there be toilets on course?

There will also be toilets available at the finish line area.
