Alex has taken on the position of Active Lifestyles Coordinator – Youth here at Sport Southland with her main role coordinating the Active Families programme designed for children aged 5-18 and their families.
Alex was born in Holland and moved to New Zealand at an early age. Alex completed the Bachelor of Sport and Recreation at the Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) in 2009, majoring in Exercise Science. She then went on to complete the Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary Education) at the University of Otago in 2010.
After teaching Physical Education and Health at Kavanagh College in Dunedin in 2011 she was drawn back to Southland where she is now in the process of building her first home.
Alex plays netball for the St Mary’s Netball Club. She is also a keen touch player, surfer and volleyball player, enjoying both the social and competitive aspects of sport and the benefits you gain from them towards living a healthier, active lifestyle.
