Sport Southland's Active Workplaces Programme
Did you know that the average fulltime worker will spend over half of their waking hours at their place of work?
Studies show that people that are regularly active have better levels of health and fitness. Moreover, a healthy employee is happier in their work, gets along better with co-workers and are more productive.
With this in mind, Sport Southland offer a range of programmes designed to help work places, employers and employees become active and maintain a regular level of activity.
If you would like more information or support in getting your workplace more active phone Sport Southland on 0800 ACTIVE.

Solid Energy 12 Week 'Biggest Loser' Competition
In mid-2012 Sport Southland worked closely with Solid Energy's Southland mines to co-ordinate a 'Biggest Loser' Competition.
Staff at the Newvale and Ohai mines were involved in the competition, which was designed to encourage staff to lose as much weight as they can through increasing their physical activity and making sustainable improvements to their diet during the 12-week challenge.
Midway through the challenge, the five teams involved had lost more than 100kg collectively.
