The Active Lifestyles team is committed to the challenge of getting more Southlanders to adopt an active lifestyle. This is evident in its mission statement to get more Southlanders, more active, more often. Research supports this mission as it points to sport and recreation as being key to making
Our services to Southland communities include:
Partnering with local councils, agencies and network groups to develop and implement Active Communities initiatives
Push Play
Providing programmes which support the Push Play message for the Southland community
Green Prescription
Working with health professionals to increase physical activity levels for individuals and families improved health and wellbeing
Active Walkers
Providing opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy walking as a form of recreation and leisure.
Active Workplaces
Working alongside workplaces to increase participation in physical activity

Sport Southland are now running low cost Zumba classes for people of all ages to enjoy the fun active opportunity that is Zumba. For 20 weeks in 2011, qualified instructor Tanya McEwan's, of Infinity Training Systems, leads an exciting hour of dances twice per week
