Playground Stencils

Traditionally, playground games have always been an integral part of childhood leisure time which is not surprising given the fact that children can spend up to 21% of their time at school in the playground. As well as offering children an opportunity to be physically active during the day, playing games during break time also provide children with a vehicle for social interaction and a platform for creativity. So, here at Sport Southland we now have a selection of playground stencils available for schools to use. We hope that this resource will assist not only teachers but also the school community in getting children more active more often.
How do we go about getting the Stencils?
Stencils will be hired to schools on a first-in first-served basis. We currently have a waiting list so if you would like to be added to this list please contact Sport Southland. The full set of stencils will be hired out to each school for one week only with collection to be after 1:00pm on a Monday and return the following Monday before 10am. Although the stencils are free of charge, you will be expected to pay a bond which holds you responsible for covering any costs should the stencils be damaged. We also have an electric powered spray gun available to apply the stencils if you wish. Once again the responsibility and cost goes to you if there should be any need for repair.

We have worked in conjunction with Aurura Paints, Invercargill to get the best paint deal possible. This paint is especially formulated so that it will last a long time on asphalt, yet will easily wash off the stencils and spray gun. You will need to order the paint from Aurora Paints 7 days in advance and can pick up the paint yourself from their workshop. Payment on invoice or at time of pick up is sufficient.

Important Safety and Electric Gun Use Information
A running sheet will be provided with the Electric Spray Gun. It is essential that this running sheet is comprehensively read prior to using the equipment. We also advised that you practice using
the spray gun with water first, so that you get a feel as to how the equipment works. The number one cause of damage to this electric spray gun is inadequate cleaning. As the paint being used is water based, cleaning the gun with water should be sufficient. Both hoses need to be cleaned along with the trigger filters and bolts. Please see the information sheet for more detail on this.
The stencils and electric gun are to be returned to Sport Southland in the same condition as what they were lent out.
