FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What is the BNZ Workplace Challenge all about?
The BNZ Workplace challenge is a five week challenge to get you and your workplace moving! The challenge is for all ages and fitness levels. Throughout the challenge teams have the opportunity to take part in a number of sports and activities and also the chance to win heaps of great prizes! You simply get active and record how many minutes of activity you do.
2. How many in a team?
You need to have five people in your team, so rally up your workmates. If your workplace has less than five people you enter into the small business category then you can have any number under five. Please note its $20 per person so $100 isnt required if there is less than 5 people in your team.
3. What if you can’t get five people from your workplace?
The BNZ Workplace Challenge is for anyone of any age or fitness level. So everyone should take part! If you need to encourage someone to take part give them some motivation by outlining some of the benefits of physical activity
· maintain a healthy weight
· build and maintain healthy bone density
· build muscle strength
· improve joint mobility
· strengthen the immune system
PLUS HAVE HEAPS OF FUN!!!
4. What are the different Categories?
· Active at Work
This is for workplaces that are active for more than 2 hours of the day e.g. couriers and personal trainers. Activity completed during your working hours can be counted in your total minutes.
· Office/Car Based
Workplaces that are based at their desk or in their cars most of the day
· Small Business
Businesses that have less than 5 employees.

6. Are there prizes?
We have weekly prizes up for grabs. These will range from morning tea shouts to massage vouchers for the whole team. Keep checking the website or e-newsletter to find out what the weekly challenge is (once the challenge starts).
We also have team prizes for:
· overall winner in each category
· most improved team
· weekly spot prizes
· and last (but not least) the team that makes the most active trips
7. When does the Challenge start and finish?
Starts Tuesday 1st November 2011 and Monday 5th December 2011
8. How do you keep track of what you have done?
Each team is given a BNZ Workplace Challenge Wall Chart. Each day you need to record how many minutes you are active for and also how many active transport trips you make, and then record this on your team's wall chart.
9. What happens if someone from my team or workplace is cheating?
If there is any evidence of cheating your entire organisation will be disqualified.
10. What counts as activity/ exercise?
For the purpose of counting minutes for the BNZ Workplace Challenge, “physical activity or exercise” is defined as “any recognised sport and/or any activity done at a level that increases your heart rate and/increases you breathing rate and is done for at least 5 minutes.” Recognised sports can be found by CLICKING HERE
11. What is the lanyard in our pack for?
The lanyard is for you to take to weekly events to gain 'Bonus Minutes'. CLICK HERE to see the events you can claim bonus minutes on. Every participant that attends these events will receive 200 minutes, e.g. if three of your team mates attend the event that's 600 minutes for your team. Your lanyard must be signed off by Sport Southland staff at the event and returned to Sport Southland by Tuesday December 2, and Sport Southland will add your bonus minutes to your total.
11. When does the BNZ Workplace Challenge finish?
The BNZ Workplace Challenge officially finishes at midnight on December 5th 2011. Minutes need to be submitted by 1pm December 6th.
