Player of the Year Trophy
These trophies are awarded to the men’s and women’s senior players of the year and are decided using the following criteria:

Points:
NZ Representation on each occasion 45 points
NZ Academy or Development team 30

Nationals – Bowls NZ National Championships

1st 200 points 2nd 100 points 3rd 50 points

Other national events – national interclub, national club (pathways)

1st 100 points 2nd 50 points 3rd 25 points

National Club (pathways) qualify at a Regional level – 40 points

owls Southland Championships – singles, pairs, triples, fours, mixed pairs.
1st 55 points 2nd 25 points 3rd 15 points

Development Player of the Year Trophy

These trophies are awarded for the Development Players (players with less than 10 years playing experience) of the year and are based on the seniors criteria plus points for ant Development events run by Bowls Southland. In addition, 5 points are awarded each time a Development player qualifies for post section play in a senior event. For a player to qualify for eligibility for this award they must enter a minimum of two development events. They cannot win the award by just accumulating points in senior competitions.

ovice of the Year Trophy
These trophies are awarded for the Novice of the Year players in their first or second season and are based on points earned for the novice singles (same criteria as for senior singles). Any novices earning points in the 1-10 Development events will count towards the Novice Player of the Year. The same would apply if they chose to enter a senior event. 5 points will be earned if a Novice player qualifies for post-section play in a senior event. Winners (*1-5 year replaced with Novice from 2005-06).
