Bowls Southland Championships

Men & Women Conditions applicable to all open and 1-10 year events.

Entry Forms:
Only entry forms provided in this book must be used for Centre Championships and must be signed by the Club Secretary or President certifying that the player(s) are playing members of the club, have entered the correct event, and are financial.

Entry Fees:
Must accompany entry forms. Please do not send cash in the mail.
Closing Date: Signed entry forms accompanied by the fee must be with the Bowls Southland office by no later than 4.00pm on the closing date.

Late Entries:
Will only be accepted at the discretion of the Match Committee.

Late Withdrawal:
Entry fees will not be refunded if advice of withdrawal is received after the draw has been done.

Championships:
Players are reminded that failure to complete a game against a team needing the game to qualify is a serious breach with severe penalties. All entrants must be available to play on dates set down for post section play, finals day and regional Finals weekend. Changes to original team members will only be allowed by the Match Committee for unforeseen circumstances. Where a player or team knew prior to the commencement of the Championship that the player or team member could not compete, no substitute or acquired team member will be granted and the team will be disqualified.

Laws:
All games must be played under the Laws of Bowls NZ.

Team Composition:
Refer BNZ regulations.

Uniform:
Regulation uniform.

Consumption of alcohol:
The consumption of alcohol during play is not permitted.

Ties games:
In the event of a tie in all games an extra end or ends shall be played.

General:
The Match Committee where applicable, reserves the right to:
a. Alter the number of ends for any event or game.
b. Alter the number of rounds to be played in section or post section play.
c. In all events the draw for qualifying and post section will be made irrespective of any preferences for byes and/or separation of teams from the same club.
d. Make suitable arrangements for matters not otherwise provided for.

Substitutes and Acquired Players:
In accordance with the Laws of the Sport – Bowls NZ Regulations. Substitutes and acquired players may be granted at the discretion of the Controlling Body and will be given for unforeseen circumstances only. The request must be in writing to the Executive Officer. However, when it can be shown that a player knew prior to the commencement of a Championship that he or she could not compete, no substitute will be granted and the whole team will be disqualified.

Footwear and Clothing (Bowls NZ Reg 1):
Footwear – shoes or sandals, flat soled and heelless. Any player with a physical disability may use an appropriate support, wheelchair or bowling aid, provided that the same is so made that its use causes no damage to the Green. Clothing – club domestic competition (involving players from the same club only) playing attire as approved by club. Club open competition: members or teams or sides must wear garments of the same colour/design. Any garment may have logos displayed thereon, but the Controlling Body may impose conditions related to Sponsors logos to ensure that there is no conflict with an event sponsor. Logos/designs deemed to be offensive by the Controlling Body will not be permitted.

Bowls Southland Championship Events (Pathways)

Fours:
Championship Fours, both senior and 1-10, will be four games of 14 completed ends with 3 and 4 wins qualifying for post section on sudden death principle. All games including the final shall be 14 completed ends.

Triples:
(2 bowls). Will be four games of 16 completed ends with 3 and 4 wins qualifying for post section on sudden death principle.

Singles:
Senior, intermediate and novice singles will be four games of 21 shots with 3 and 4 wins qualifying for post section on sudden death principle. 1-10 player is defined as a player who has been a member of a club for not more than ten years (not necessarily consecutive). Interim Singles – entries are confined to 3-10 year players. 3-10 year players may enter the senior singles if they wish. Novice Singles – entries confined to players who have not played bowls before October 2008.
Champion of Champion Events

Conditions:
All games played on a one life system.

Closing date:
Entries close on 31 January 2010 on the entry form provided to all clubs. Late entries will only be accepted at the discretion of the Match Committee.

Fours:
14 completed ends – final 14 completed ends.

Triples:
(3 bowls)15 completed ends – final 15 completed ends.

Pairs:
18 completed ends – final 18 completed ends.

Singles:
Games 21 shots – final 21 shots.

Club Champions:
Must be current year’s champion. Clubs may play a one or two life system at club level. Singles players must bring their own marker for champion of champion singles. Names of club champions must be forwarded to Bowls Southland one week prior to event. If a replacement is required you must contact the convenor of the Match Committee Robin Shanks.
Replacements and Substitutes: A club may take a replacement player from their runner-up team. This does not apply in singles or include the skip. This ruling is for Southland Champion of Champion events only.
