Celebrating our final session - at the pool

'Healthy Me & You' Pilot - Invercargill - November & December 2007:

Parents and caregivers learn about healthy eating and healthy action through interactive sessions.

Ben and Caden enjoy hitting ballons with the 'ballon bats' they made themselves.

Jacob and Ben play fun games outside while developing their fundamental activity skills.

In session 2, we played various games and activities including blowing and chasing bubbles.

Brydon carefully makes 'pizza' in session 3, spreading the pasta sauce on the english muffin.

Brydon and her Mum Kath top the 'pizza' with colourful vegetable toppings.

Ben closes his eyes while guessing what vege is in the kete.

The group enjoyed visiting the animal reserve at Queens Park.

The ducks were hungry at Queens Park!

After working up an appetite playing on the playground, the group enjoyed eating some oranges and bananas. On our short visit to the park we walked approx 2500 steps or 2km, and had lots of fun.

Isaiah crawls through the tunnel in the obstacle course during session 5.
Crawling is a 'cross-patterning' movement that helps the left and right sides of the brain develop .

Katie and Yvette demonstrate the wheelbarrow game - fun for big kids too

The big kids (including Yvette!) enjoyed a lesson from Maree at Splash Palace

The pool session was followed by a spread of yummy & healthy party food, including a cucumber crocodile...

Everyone enjoyed the party food as we celebrated the completion of the 'Healthy Me & You' pilot.
