Maintain a Healthy Weight - Busting the Myths:

"I'm overweight because I have a slow metabolism">>
"I am overweight and eat hardly anything, but my friend is skinny and eats everything in sight">>
"If you eat too much carbohydrate it will be converted to fat">>
"If I eat lots of small meals it will keep my metabolism going">>
"If you are trying to lose weight don't eat after 5pm">>

Promoting Breastfeeding

Stephanie presented to the group on the importance of  breastfeeding infants for at least 6 months.

Revision: The Key Population Health Messages:

1) Aim to maintain a healthy weight throughout life
2) Eat a variety of nutritious foods
3) Eat more vegetables and fruits
4) Eat less fatty, salty, sugary food
5) Fully breastfeed infants for at least six months
6) Be active every day for at least 30 minutes a day in as many ways as possible.
7) Add some vigorous exercise for extra benefit and fitness
8) Promote and foster the development of environments that support healthy lifestyles.
