Transport

Into/from Invercargill – capability, frequency, cost

Our nominated UniGames external transport partner, House of Travel Lakers will provide competitors and team official team managers with a “one-stop-shop” travel clearing house, to get your teams to Invercargill and return for the 2010 UniGames.

House of Travel Lakers are one of the largest Travel Agencies in New Zealand and have over 10 years experience in specialising to the conference and group travel markets.

House of Travel Lakers dedicated Groups Department will ensure that teams get the very best possible deals to get to this part of the world (subject of course to booking early to secure the best value fares).

Using current conventional scheduled flights, House of Travel Lakers advises:
• we have 8 flights per day in and out of the City, which are normally serviced by ATR aircraft, giving us a daily capacity of around 450pax.
• House of Travel Lakers will negotiate with Air New Zealand regarding increasing their capacity into Invercargill during the UniGames through additional services and/or larger aircraft.

Our bid however, has been based on the additional opportunity for teams flying South to avail themselves of the excess of 1,000 seats per day into Queenstown and Dunedin and the fare options that come with this.

This opens up the option of Jetstar and Qantas Airlines via Queenstown & Pacific Blue Airline via Dunedin, in addition to many extra Air New Zealand daily flights.

The (coach) drive times to Invercargill are:
Queenstown Airport – Invercargill 2 hrs 20mins
Dunedin Airport – Invercargill 2 hours 10mins

To recognise the slightly less convenient alternative to access Invercargill we will offer complimentary coach transport between Queenstown, Dunedin and Invercargill.
In addition we will offer these clients:
1. a light meal and drink on the trip down to Invercargill
2. a complimentary $20 voucher which may be redeemed at any ILT establishment during the 2010 UniGames, for food and/or beverages

Transport from secondary airports

The cost of the coach service to/from these secondary airports will be met by the Consortium (ie be no charge to competitors and team officials).
• the service will provide for departures from the main flights as capacity determines, (but we do reserve the right to consolidate between some flights, should full coaches not be warranted)
• McDermotts Coachlines [Invercargill] will provide this service
• provision of food and beverage on the trip and the complimentary vouchers (as outlined above), for each competitor and team official.
