2007 Watties Volunteer Coach of the Year Award
The search is on for the 2007 Wattie's Volunteer Coach of the Year. From 25 June to 1 August 2007, sports teams and athletes will be asked to say "thanks" and nominate their volunteer coach. Anybody who coaches at a non-representative, unpaid level is eligible to be nominated. If you know of a volunteer coach who does a great job and should be thanked, let us know and we'll send you entry forms to pass on to players.
This year, we want to recognise even more volunteer coaches and so have introduced four categories to the judging and national awards. This is a way of encouraging more nominations and also recognising less experienced coaches as well as 'lifetime' coaches.
The new categories are as follows:
- student (an intermediate or high school-aged coach Years 7-13)
- newcomer (coaching for five years or less)
- general (coaching for more than five years but not yet a lifetime)
- lifetime (coaching for a very long time)
