Wattie's Volunteer Coach of the Year Breakfast at Bluff Community School:

They told me...
"Dean is a great coach who has instilled in them that it is a team game and that they have to play for each other. He has taught them never to give up and works on their fitness and skill levels."
The breakfast involved about 40 children, five coaches and teachers from Bluff Community School.
"It is incredible volunteer coaches like Dean Whaanga who provide opportunities for children to become and stay involved in sport, who not only teach them the skills of the game but also life skills such as teamwork, perserverance, respect for each other and the opposition, etc." said Gordon Crombie, Sport Southland.
