The Academy Southland ‘Talent Xcelerator’ programme is a joint venture between the NZAS South Island, Sport Southland, Community Trust of Southland, and the Invercargill Licensing Trust. It is targeted at emerging young athletes with the goal of fast-tracking them on a performance pathway, increasing their understanding and readiness for the high performance environment, and for becoming carded. Many of the Academy athletes are now carded and emerging in national programmes and achieving great international results.There are currently three “Talent Xcelerator” programmes in the South Island; Academy Southland, Academy Canterbury and Academy Otago.
