BNZ Active Walkers KiwiSeniors

The BNZ Active Walkers KiwiSeniors programme promotes physical activity for those aged over 50. It is supported locally by BNZ and is co-ordinated by Sport Southland.

There are four groups - in Invercargill, Te Anau, Eastern Southland and Northern Southland - who meet weekly for walks in and around Southland.

'Step It Out' Pram Walks

A weekly pram-friendly walk that caters for all abilities.

Southland Tramping Club

The club meets on the second Wednesday of each month (other than January) at 7:30pm in the Federated Farmers Building, 70 Forth Street. Here club members meet to discuss coming and past trips. Club tramping trips are a mix of social trips, day trips and weekend trips.

Wednesday Walk Group

This group meets every Wednesday at different locations for a walk (faster and slower groups) and is made up of both people who have or have had a cancer diagnosis and also their supporters.

A member of the supportive care team at the Cancer Society organises the group walk each week and helps to co-ordinate everyone who attends.

It is a very supportive and social group, ending up for a coffee or a cold drink post-walk.
